Heartburn Is All About The Foods You Eat

Heartburn, or gastroesophageal reflux (the more extreme form), can actually be much minimized by choosing to make some changes in your habits. There is a good chance that you won't ever need to resort to medicine or a surgical procedure if you try these changes.

Because many people experience heartburn later at night, it's best to restrict your nighttime eating. If possible, eat the last meal of the day 3-4 hours before you go to bed. The big thing is this...don't eat in the evening.

Your diet may be one of the most crucial things you can modify to help your heartburn. Foods that contain high acid-forming content may make it more likely to get indigestion. Acidic juices, coffee, and alcohol are things that are often better limited.

Foods that cause your stomach to create acid are much more common than you would imagine. Foods that contain high fat, such as chocolate, and spicy foods containing peppers will induce acid reflux. Many Italian recipes, because they use a tomato sauce, could trigger your acid reflux, so consume these dishes in lesser servings.

You should also avoid consuming generous helpings. Try not to overeat at your meals . If you get overly full, what you ate will get driven upwards into the esophagus, which in turn will make your heartburn much more inflamed. This in turn leads to that horrible burning feeling.

As you can see, a few modifications to your diet will go along way to helping cure your heartburn naturally!
